Before we head into the weekend, we wanted to provide you with an update with the most up-to-date information we have.
We have received no further guidance regarding if or when face-to-face instruction or activities may resume. We also await official guidance from the State regarding how technicalities such as attendance, grading, and testing will be handled for our e-Learning days after March 30. Please know that we have been working closely with our contacts with the State, other districts, and industry partners to prepare as much as possible, and we will share details when official information becomes available.
We also do not yet have substantive information to share regarding major events such as Prom and Graduation. We are working proactively to make alternative arrangements for these kinds of major events, if needed. At this time we do not have details to share but will if and when alternative arrangements are put into place.
Here’s what we can all be sure of:
- We, along with all schools in Illinois, will remain closed for face-to-face instruction through at least April 7. We will continue to use e-Learning to keep learning forward on these dates.
- Our staff has remained hard at work throughout the past weeks to prepare excellent e-Learning experiences for students.
- We will continue to provide food services for all children in the district while school buildings are closed. This service will remain accessible 9:00 a.m. to noon at Marlowe Middle School, Monday through Friday, with additional arrangements available by contacting your school principal.
- We have been working proactively with all of our departments to provide as best as possible for the physical, social-emotional, mental health, special services, and other needs of our students and families. More details will be shared about specific efforts as we move forward.
Help Is Available
If your family is facing a need during this crisis, the McHenry County 211 service is a resource available 24/7. The 211 call center provides easy access to nearly 400 health and human services in the area, from financial assistance to mental health services. Supporting the Community
We continue to work with our community partners to offer whatever support we can to those in need. We currently are in the process of compiling resources such as medical personal protective equipment and sanitizing products to provide to local medical organizations and first responders. We continue to encourage those who are able to consider a donation to Grafton Food Pantry. There is great need for nutrition and household goods in our community, and we expect those needs to grow in the coming weeks. Public Health Reminder
The county health department continues to ask us to monitor students and staff that meet criteria for isolation and quarantine, or who have been told to isolate or quarantine from their physicians or health department. We ask that staff and students who exhibit symptoms as outlined by Illinois DPH call or email their school nurse to notify them of their or their student’s symptoms or isolation/quarantine status. (Contact information can be found on the school’s website under Resources or Support Services.) The nurses may contact you with further questions, guidance and/or will then share information as appropriate with MCDH.
